WOMEN'S SOCCER

Calvin College junior Ashley Bolen has been named to the Division III Great
Lakes All-Region third team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America. A sweeper back on defense, Bolen is receiving Great Lakes All-Region
honors for the first time in her career.

A native of Urbana, Illinois, Bolen was a two-way threat for the Knights this
year, scoring one goal and collecting 10 assists for a total of 12 points on
offense. Bolen was the primary striker on Calvin's restarts and corner kicks.
She also keyed a Calvin defense that posted 13 shutouts and a team
goals-against-average of 0.87. A first team All-MIAA selection this fall, Bolen
helped Calvin capture its third consecutive MIAA title and its third
consecutive bid to the NCAA III Tournament. Calvin finished 15-3-4 overall,
advancing to the second round of the NCAA III Tournament before bowing out in a
penalty kick shootout to Wittenberg after playing to a 0-0 draw through
regulation and two overtime sessions.

Calvin has now had at least one of its players earn all-region honors in 13 of
the last 15 years.

DIRECTOR'S CUP UPDATE

The final set of U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup fall sports standings have
been released and Calvin College currently stands in fourth place.

Calvin has a fourth place total of 285 points, one point behind third place
Williams College. Washington University of St. Louis leads the standings with
323 points while Amherst of Massachusetts is second with 291 points. Calvin
scored in five of a possible eight sports in the U.S. Sports Academy Director’s
Cup standings.
Calvin picked up 80 points from its men’s cross country team and 80 points
from its women's cross country team as both teams placed fourth at the NCAA III
Championships in November. Calvin also received 50 points from its women’s
soccer and 50 points from its women’s volleyball team as both teams reached the
second round of the NCAA III Tournament. In addition, the men's soccer team
garnered 25 points as it also advanced to the NCAA III Tournament this fall
before bowing out in the first round.

The final set of fall sports standings includes the sports of football, men's
and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, women's volleyball and
women's field hockey.

The U.S. Sports Academy Director's Cup is based on points earned by teams that
compete in NCAA Championship events and is presented annually by the National
Association of Collegiate Director's of Athletics (NACDA) to the best overall
collegiate athletics program in the country. The NACDA Director's Cup race is
held at the NCAA I, II and III levels and also for NAIA institutions.
Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA III Championship
competition in up to 18 sports -- nine for men and nine for women. Each
national champion repoints. Third place is worth 85 points and fourth place finishes count for 80
points with a sliding point scale continuing on down by order of finish.

Competition will continue with the winter sports season and finish with the
conclusion of the spring sports season in May.
A year ago, Calvin finished eighth in the final Division III standings with a
total of 713 points. Calvin is one of only seven schools to finish in the
top-25 every year that the competition has been held at the NCAA III level.

CALVIN BROADCASTS NOW ON STRETCH INTERNET

Calvin College has entered into an agreement with Stretch Internet to air
internet broadcasts of Calvin's athletic teams. The broadcasts replace Calvin's
in-house RealAudio service.

To listen to Calvin broadcasts through the services of Stretch Internet,
listners must have Quick Time software loaded on their computer. The direct
link to Calvin's broadcast schedule page can be found on-line
at:http://secure.stretchinternet.com/demo/games.php?user=calvin&o=cal_stamp

A feature of all of the Stretch Internet broadcasts will be archived
recordings, allowing listeners a chance to go back and listen to games that
have already aired. The Stretch Internet service will also allow Calvin to
broadcast multiple events at one time and also provide for greater bandwith,
allowing more fans to listen to an event at one time.
