Women's Soccer Shuts Out DePauw;
Men's Golf Remains Sixth in MIAA Standings With One League Outing Left To Go

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Calvin 2, DePauw 0

GREENCASTLE, IN -- Calvin stretched its winning streak to four and its unbeaten streak to five with a 2-0 victory at DePauw University Monday night. Calvin (6-3-1) scored early in each half to take control against the host Tigers (2-8-0). Sophomore Natalie Veurink (Western Michigan Christian HS) put Calvin up 1-0 with a goal in the 13th minute, her third of the year. Freshman Kellie Honderd (Unity Christian HS) then scored just 42 seconds into the second half. The goal was her second of the year.

Calvin outshot DePauw 15-7 with Honderd collecting seven of those shots. Sophomores Alyssa Bergsma (Calvin Christian HS) and Kayla Sulzer (St. Charles, MO) split time in nets with Bergsma posting two saves in the first half and Sulzer one save in the second half.

Monday's game was the second in a slate of four games in a seven-day span for the Knights as they host Adrian in a conference game on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. and then journey to Aquinas on Saturday for a non-conference match at noon.

MEN'S GOLF

CASCADE TWP -- Calvin hosted an MIAA outing on Monday at the Watermark Country Club and posted a sixth place score of 324 strokes. Calvin remains in sixth place in the overall team standings. Sophomore Kyle Harvey (Willard, OH) led Calvin with a round of 78 that left him in a tie for 10th place while sophomore teammate Jon Kuiper (Grand Rapids Christian HS) was next with a round of 79 that was good for a 13th place tie. Freshman Eric Doezema (Grand Rapids Christian HS) was Calvin's third man with a round of 83 while freshman Jess Hendriksma (Grand Rapids Christian HS) had an 84 and sophomore Aaron Hargett (Lake Odessa-Lakewood HS) an 87.

Hope College took first place on Monday with a team score of 301 and with the effort, moved past Olivet and into first place in the overall team standings, five strokes ahead of the Comets. Calvin is 36 strokes ahead of seventh place Adrian and 62 strokes behind fifth place Alma.

Matt Lapham of Hope was Monday's medalist with a round of 73. He is tied with Olivet's Joe Kiss in the overall individual standings heading into the final round of competition.

The final round of competition will be held on Saturday at Tri-State's Zollner Golf Club.
