Sarah Wittingen Named Great Lakes Regional Women's Track Athlete of the Year
Calvin College junior Sarah Wittingen has been named the Great Lakes Regional
Women's Track Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field Coaches
Association.
Earlier this month, Wittingen was named the MIAA's Most Outstanding Runner for
the second year in a row. Wittingen will compete in the 400 meter hurdles this
week at the NCAA III Championships in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where she is the
nation's top seed and in the 100 meter hurdles where she is seeded third. She
will also run on Calvin's 4x400 meter relay which is seeded second.
At the MIAA Championships earlier this month, Wittingen set a conference record
in winning the 100-meter hurdles (14.28). She also won a conference title in
the 400 hurdles. A week later, she posted the fastest time in the country in
that event, clocking 60.64. She was sixth in the 400 hurdles at last year’s
NCAA outdoor meet.
