MEN'S TENNIS
Calvin 8, Hope 1
GRAND RAPIDS--After weather kept competition indoors for over two weeks, the
men's tennis team defeated conference opponent Hope College in an outdoor
match. "It was good to get back outside again," head coach John Ross said.
"Outdoor tennis is a lot harder than indoor, and we stepped up to gain a
decisive win over a tough opponent."
Calvin (12-4) took all six singles spots and first and second singles.
Especially notable was number five singles with junior Mike Goorhouse
(Holland/Holland Christian) holding on in the third game to take match with a
7-2 tiebreaker.
The Knights prepare for Friday's match-up at Kalamazoo against
regionally-ranked Coe College.
