Calvin College graduate Jim Deters made his minor league debut for the Kinston
(NC) Indians Friday night in a relief pitching performance. Now in his third
year in the Cleveland Indians organization, Deters is now a member of the
Kinston Indians of the Advanced Class A Carolina League. Deters began his minor
league career in 2005 as a member of the Rookie League Mahoney Valley Scrappers
and then advanced to the Class A level Lake County Captains in 2006.

Also a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School, Deters came on in relief in
the bottom of the seventh inning of an eventual 9-4 loss to the Winston-Salem
