MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The final national polls for men's and women's basketball have been released
and both Calvin basketball teams are mentioned.
On the women's side, Calvin finished ranked fifth in the final ESPN/USA TODAY
Division III Top-25 coaches' poll and sixth in the final D3hoops.com Top-25
poll. Under the direction of head coach John Ross, Calvin finished the 2006-07
season with a final record of 28-3, establishing a Calvin single-season record
for victories. The Knights also reached the national quarterfinals of the NCAA
III Tournament, matching Calvin's best-ever national finish in women's hoops.

On the men's side, Calvin did not crack the final top-25 of the D3hoops.com
poll but did receive enough votes to finish five spots out of the top 25. Under
the direction of head coach Kevin Vande Streek, the Calvin men's basketball
team finished 19-10 overall, captured its third MIAA Tournament title in the
last four years and advanced to the NCAA III Tournament for the fourth straight
year.

WINKLE AND VELDHOUSE RECEIVE POST-SEASON HONORS FROM D3 NEWS PUBLICATIONS

Calvin College senior Lisa Winkle has received All-America honors from one
more national publication. Winkle has been named a first team All-American by
Women's Division III News, a national monthly newsletter published by Gary
Rubin in Beaverton, Oregon. A year ago, Winkle was named a third team
All-American by Women's DIII News.

A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of South Christian High School, Winkle
has now received All-America honors from D3hoops.com, Women's DIII News and
from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. She was also recently selected
as the female recipient of the Jostens Trophy - given to the top
student-athlete in Division III basketball.

Winkle averaged 14.4 points and 10.1 rebounds a game and finished as Calvin's
all-time leader in points (1,721 points) and rebounds (1,034).

On the men's side, Calvin sophomore Caleb Veldhouse has been selected as an
honorable mention All-American by DIII News. A year ago, Veldhouse was named to
the All-Freshman Team by the publication.

A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and a graduate of Sioux Falls Christian
High School, Veldhouse averaged 15.0 points, 2.2 assists and 2.1 rebounds a
game. Heading into his junior campaign, Veldhouse is 160 points shy of reaching
the 1,000 point plateau for his career.
