Greg Snapper Named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week in Men's Soccer;
Swimming and Diving Recap From MIAA Relays
GREG SNAPPER NAMED MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For the first time in his collegiate career, Calvin College freshman Greg
Snapper has been named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week in men's soccer. A
native of Madison, Wisconsin, and a graduate of Madison West High School,
Snapper helped key a pair of Calvin victories on the road last week as the
Knights defeated Albion 1-0 and Tri-State 2-1.
With the pair of victories, Calvin stretched its win streak to five games.
During the five-game win streak, Snapper has been part of a Calvin defense that
has given up only two goals.
Calvin is currently 8-5-3 overall and 6-2-2 in the MIAA which is good for third
place in the conference standings. The Knights will host a pair of games this
week as they will entertain Adrian on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. and Hope on Saturday
at 2:00 p.m. Both games will be aired via RealAudio through the Calvin web site

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS OPEN SEASON AT MIAA RELAYS
JENISON -- The Calvin men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their
2006-07 campaigns by competing at the MIAA Relays on Saturday. The relay meet
was unscored. The meet was held at the Jenison Aquatics Center which will also
serve as the host site of the MIAA Championships this coming February.
In the women's competition, Calvin took first place in five swimming relays. In
the 200 backstroke relay, Calvin's quartet of sophomore Jordan Scott (Oakville,
ON), freshman Alyssa Ludema (Grand Rapids Christian HS), senior Liz
Ingebrigtsen (Bensenville, IL) and junior Kat Vinson (Kaneohe, HI) took first
place with a time of 1:56.70. Calvin's 200 breaststroke relay of freshman Emily
Roberts (Dekalb, IL), senior Barbara Frazier (Placerville, CA), freshman Katie
White (Grand Rapids Christian HS) and senior Alex Wilson (Ellsworth, OH) took
first place in a time of 2:08.37.
Taking first place in the 500 freestyle relay from Calvin were Vinson,
sophomore Cara VanWoerkom (Calvin Christian HS), Ingebrigtsen and junior
Stephanie Duncan (Long Grove, IL) with a time of 4:54.49.
In the 400 medley relay, the Calvin team of freshman Laura Price (Warren, PA),
Roberts, freshman Kelley Barr (Dover, DE) and Frazier took first place with a
time of 4:21.39. Calvin's 200 freestyle relay team of VanWoerkom, sophomore
Julie Wolfe (Westerville, OH), White and Vinson took first place in a time of
1:42.20.
Top efforts for the Calvin men included a second place finish in the 500
freestyle relay (4:26.62) and third place finishes in the 200 butterfly
(1:39.74) and 200 freestyle (1:31.34) relays. The 500 freestyle relay included
junior John Boumgarden (Naperville, IL), freshman John Toll (Atlanta, GA),
junior Andrew Resseguie (Holland Christian HS) and senior Peter Tuuk (Grand
Rapids Christian HS). The Calvin 200 butterfly relay consisted of Toll,
Boumgarden, sophomore Keith Conrad (Wheaton, IL) and Tuuk. Calvin's 200
freestyle relay included Andrew Resseguie, Boumgarden, senior Matt Herrema
(Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Tuuk.
Saturday's competition also included men's/women's combined diving relays on
both the one and three-meter boards. Calvin took first place in both diving
competitions, posting a score of 222.55 on the one-meter board and a score of
248.75 on the three-meter board.
