Women's Golf 8th at MIAA Outing #2;
Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams Compete at Loyola Lakefront Invite

WOMEN’S GOLF

SOUTH BEND, IN – Calvin took eighth at the second MIAA outing of the year, posting a team score of 420 strokes. Olivet took first with a team score of 334 strokes. Calvin remains in eighth place in the overall MIAA standings. Saturday’s outing was hosted by St. Mary’s at the Blackthorn Golf Club.

Calvin’s top finisher on Saturday was freshman Julienne Louters (Grand Rapids Christian HS) with a round of 100. Freshman teammate Kelli Visser (Grand Rapids Christian HS) was close behind with a score of 101. Rounding out Calvin’s finishers were junior Linnea Trippett (White Plains, NY) with a 109, sophomore Jessica Bruggink (Unity Christian HS) with a 110 and sophomore Juanita Gibson (Detroit Renaissance HS) with a round of 112.

Calvin returns to action on Tuesday when it competes at an MIAA outing hosted by Hope at the Macatawa Legends Golf Club.

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

CHICAGO, IL – A group of Calvin cross country runners competed at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Saturday. In the women’s race, Calvin took 12th with 390 points. In the men’s race, Calvin took ninth with 266 points.
Calvin’s top finisher in the women’s race was sophomore Kelly Edwards (Grand Blanc HS) who took 34th (19:24). She was followed by freshman Sarah Dugan (Freeland HS) in 92nd (20:23), sophomore Jessi Miller (Colorado Springs, CO) in 96th (20:25), sophomore Val Nydam (Uxbridge, MA) in 105th (20:30), sophomore Emily Arkus (Tinley Park, IL) in 10th (20:30), junior Bethany Hofman (Holland Christian HS) in 108th (20:33) and freshman Nicole Farr (Warrenville, IL) in 114th place (20:45).

Calvin’s top finisher in the men’s race was sophomore Andrew Stutzman (Kutztown, PA) in 33rd (26:47). Senior Todd Schuster (Denver, CO) was next in 54th place (27:13) followed by sophomore Jared Eliason (Shoreview, MN) in 69th (27:27). Other Calvin finishers included junior Bill Reynolds (Newtown Square, PA) in 71st (27:30), sophomore Peter Clemo (Grand Rapids Christian HS) in 81st (27:41), sophomore Matt Logan (Fort Wayne, IN) in 87th (27:49) and freshman Kyle Mast in 89th (27:52).

Both Calvin teams return to action next Friday when they compete at the Michigan Intercollegiates hosted by Ferris State in Big Rapids.
