JIM DETERS PICKS UP WIN #8 FOR LAKE COUNTY CAPTAINS
CHARLESTON, WV - Jim Deters picked up his team-leading eighth victory of the
year in leading the Lake County Captains to a 10-2 victory over the West
Virginia Power Sunday night. A 2005 Calvin graduate, Deters (8-7) pitched 5
1/3 innings, scattering four hits while walking three and striking out three.
Lake County gave Deters all the run support he would need, scoring eight runs
in the top of the first inning. Throwing under a strict pitch count, Deters
did not allow a run in his 5 1/3 innings of work, lowering his season earned
run average to 3.46.
A native of Portage and a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School, Deters
leads the Lake County Captains in innings pitched (122.1), victories (8) and
strikeouts (75). He has also given up only 20 walks overall.
The Lake County Captains are a Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and
a member of the South Atlantic “Sally” League. The Captains are currently
17-12 in the second half of the South Atlantic League season and rest 3 ½
games out of first place in the SAL North Division.
