MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD SECOND IN FINAL M-F ATHLETIC POWER RANKINGS - WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD THIRD
The final Division III men's and women's power rankings have been released for outdoor track and field and both Calvin teams finished among the top teams in the country. The Calvin men finished second in the men’s ranking with a team score of 217.13, less than a point behind first place Wisconsin-Whitewater which finished with a score of 217.94. On the women’s side, Calvin took third with a team score of 203.74, trailing second place Wisconsin-LaCrosse (208.28) and first place Wisconsin-Oshkosh (218.59).
Sponsored by the MF Athletic Company, the power rankings have been released since 1999 and reflect the strength of a track and field team in head-to-head dual meet competition.
The power rankings are tabulated by a cumulative point system. To submit a team for ranking, a school must submit two individuals in each event that is used in a head-to-head dual meet. In submitting an entry, the best time or performance of the year for the individual is submitted. An individual may not be listed in more than three individual events in the final weekly team entry.
The finish and final score by the Calvin men’s track and field marks the best finish and point total in program history. The finish by the Calvin women’s track and field team marks its sixth consecutive top four finish.
Both Calvin track and field teams were under the direction of head coach Jong-il Kim this year.
