In the loss to William Jewell, Calvin managed just four hits. William Jewell broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the bottom of the fourth and added an insurance run in the fifth. Calvin committed three errors which led to five unearned runs.
Senior Jeanne Cole (Mason County Eastern HS) had Calvin's lone extra-base hit with a double. Junior Ruth Anna Spooner (Twin Falls, ID) took the loss for Calvin to fall to 1-3 on the year. Spooner walked one and struck out one in 3.2 innings of work.
Calvin's game against Doane was shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule. Doane scored four runs in the first, one in the third, sixth in the fourth and three in the fifth. Calvin's lone run was scored in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by junior Erin Conrad (Calvin Christian HS) that plated Cole who led off the Calvin half of the inning with a single.
Freshman Kristin Folkerts (Grand Rapids Christian HS) went all five innings for Calvin in the pitcher's circle and took the loss to fall to 2-1 on the year.
