CALVIN TIGHTENS THE GAP IN MIAA COMMISSIONER'S CUP RACE

A successful winter sports campaign has allowed Calvin to tighten the
standings for the MIAA Commissioner's Cup and All-Sports standings.

After the recently completed MIAA winter sports campaign, Calvin sits in
second place in the Commissioner's Cup standings with 131 points, eight
points behind Hope. Calvin is also in second place in the Men's All-Sports
standings with 56 points with Hope first with 64 points. In the Women's
All-Sports standings, Calvin and Hope are tied for first place with 75 points.

After the fall sports season, Hope held a 29-point lead over Calvin in the
(overall) Commissioner's Cup standings, a 10-point lead over Calvin in the
Women's All-Sports standings and a 15-point lead over second place Albion in
the Men's All-Sports standings with Calvin third, 19 points behind Hope.

Calvin captured a pair of MIAA titles during the winter sports campaign
(men's basketball and women's swimming and diving) and added a second
place (women's basketball) and third place (men's swimming and diving)
finish.

The MIAA presents separate awards for the best cumulative finish in men's
and women's sports as well as an award for the best cumulative finish in all
league sports (men and women). The separate awards are known as the Men's
All-Sports Award and the Women's All-Sports Award while the cumulative award
is know as the Commissioner's Cup.

The final standings for the all-sports awards will be determined on the basis
of each college's standings in eight of nine sports for men and eight of nine
sports for women. These point totals will be added together to determine the
winner of the Commissioner's Cup.

The standings after the winter season are based on 5-of-6 sports for men and
5-of-6 for women.

The Commissioner's Cup (MIAA All-Sports Award) has been presented since
1934-35. Hope has won the award 27 times, followed by Albion 14, Kalamazoo 13,
Calvin 8, Alma 5. In 2004-2005, Hope won the Commissioner's Cup, the Men's
All-Sports Award and the Women's All-Sports Award.
