CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR DECEMBER 1, 2005

MEN'S SOCCER TEAM 16th IN FINAL DIVISION III TOP-25 RANKINGS

For the second straight year, Calvin has been ranked in the final Division III
Top-25 men's soccer poll conducted by the National Soccer Coaches Association
of America. The Knights are ranked 16th in the final poll of the year released
yesterday morning.

Calvin finished sixth in the final 2004 Division III Top-25 poll of the year.

Calvin is joined in the final 2005 Division III Top-25 poll by Hope as the
Flying Dutchmen are ranked 25th.

Under the direction of fourth-year head coach Chris Hughes, Calvin finished
the 2005 season with a 17-4-2 mark, earning its second straight trip to the
NCAA III Tournament.

Calvin advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the 2005 NCAA III Tournament,
defeating Edgewood 4-0 in the first round and second-ranked Ohio Wesleyan 2-1
in the second round. The Knights were then eliminated in a national
semi-quarterfinal game against Fredonia State (NY) which concluded in a 0-0
double-overtime tie with Fredonia winning a penalty kick shootout 3-2.

Calvin's total of 17 victories in the third-highest in school history,
surpassed only by the 19 wins achieved by its 1991 team and the 18 victories
achieved by its 2004 team.

Over the last three years, Calvin has produced an overall won-loss record of
50-11-3 for a winning percentage of .786. Included in that three-year span are
two MIAA titles and two NCAA III Tournament berths.
