LISA WINKLE NAMED MIAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK IN WOMEN'S HOOPS
For the third time in her collegiate career, Calvin College junior forward
Lisa Winkle of Grand Rapids (South Christian HS) has been named MIAA Player of
the Week in women's basketball.
Winkle was voted the most valuable player as the Knights won the championship
of the
Wisconsin Lutheran tournament this past weekend. Calvin defeated host
Wisconsin Lutheran in the championship game 80-67 behind Winkle's double-double
of 36 points and 12
rebounds. Her Saturday performance marked the 15th double-double of her
Calvin career. In the win over Wisconsin-Lutheran, she shot 14-for-19 from the
floor and 8-of-11 on free throws with four assists. The night before she scored
12 points, blocked seven shots and had five rebounds in a 54-50 victory over
Simpson, Iowa. She did not have a turnover in 23 minutes of play.
Calvin returns to action tomorrow night when it travels to Aquinas for a game
slated to start at 7:00 p.m.
