Weima Named DIII Swimmer of the Week by Collegeswimming.com;
Men's Soccer Prepares to Host Sectional Round of NCAA III Tournament;
Cross Country Teams Prepare for NCAA III Championships

WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

For the second time in her career, Calvin College junior Becky Weima has been
named the Division III Swimmer of the Week by Collegeswimming.com. Weima was
also selected as Division III Swimmer of the Week by the web site as a freshman
during the 2003-04 season.

A native of Caledonia and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School,
Weima helped Calvin to a pair of wins over Kalamazoo (191-46) and Case Western
(181-60) last Saturday with two individual wins and helping Calvin to a second
place on 400 Free Relay. Weima won the 100 free (52.66) and 200 Free (1:53.33,
NCAA 'A'). Weima's split in the 400 free relay (51.84) was the fastest in
the meet by 0.70 seconds.

Two weeks ago, Weima broke a school record in the 1,000 freestyle with a time
of 10:45.99 in a double-dual meet against Wheaton and Grand Valley State.
Weima currently holds six Calvin records in individual events. A year ago,
Weima became Calvin's first-ever national champion in an individual event as
she took first place in the 200 freestyle at the NCAA III Championships with a
time of 1:50.29.

Weima has helped the Calvin women's swimming and diving team get off to a
fast start as the Knights are 6-1 in dual meet competition.

Calvin returns to action on Saturday when it competes at rival Hope in an MIAA
dual meet scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.

MEN'S SOCCER PREPARES FOR SECTIONAL ROUND OF NCAA III TOURNAMENT

Despite more than six inches of snow that swept through the Grand Rapids area
overnight, the Calvin men's soccer team is busy preparing to host the
sectional round of the NCAA III Men's Soccer Tournament Friday and Saturday.

A crew of Calvin physical plant staff was joined by members of the Calvin
men's soccer team Thursday afternoon in clearing the snow off Calvin's
Marvin A. Zuidema Soccer Field.

Action begins tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. with Gustavus Adolphus (14-2-4) facing
Loras College (18-3-1). An internet broadcast of the game will be available
through the Gustavus Adolphus web site at:
http://www.gustavus.edu/oncampus/athletics/audio.cfm

Approximately 30 minutes after the competition of game number one, Calvin
(17-4-1) will face Fredonia State (17-3-3). A broadcast of the Calvin/Fredonia
State game will be available through the Calvin web site at:

Friday's winners will advance to Saturday's national quarterfinal game at
Calvin scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.

CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS PREPARE FOR NCAA III CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Calvin men's and women's cross country teams have departed for the
NCAA III Championships which are scheduled to be held Saturday near the campus
of Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio.

The Calvin men's cross country team will head into the meet ranked
number-one in the country. The Knights received just five first place votes in
the final national poll of the year however with Wisconsin-LaCrosse receiving
three first place votes. Other teams expected to challenge the two-time
defending champion Knights for the national title include North Central (IL),
Haverford (PA) and Nebraska Wesleyan.

On the women's side, Calvin will head into Saturday's competition ranked
14th in the final national poll of the year, up three spots from the previous
week. The Calvin women are making a return to the national meet after a
year's absence.

Both of Saturday's races will be aired via a RealAudio broadcast through the
Calvin web site at: http://www.calvin.edu/sports/ram/calvinsports.ram with
Calvin alumn Jeff Engbers calling all of the action.
