CALVIN SELECTED AS SECTIONAL HOST FOR NCAA III MEN'S SOCCER TOURNAMENT
Calvin has been selected as the host site for the upcoming sectional round of
the NCAA III Men's Soccer Tournament.
Calvin will host a four-team sectional this Friday and Saturday that will also
include teams from Fredonia State (NY), Loras (IA) and Gustavus Adolphus (MN).
Friday's action will begin with a sectional semifinal game at 11:00 a.m.
with the second semifinal game to follow approximately 30 minutes after
completion of the first semifinal game.
Friday's winners will play in the sectional final on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
All three weekend games will be played at Calvin's Marvin A. Zuidema Soccer
Field.
Calvin (17-4-1) will face Fredonia State (17-3-3) while Loras (18-3-1) will
meet Gustavus Adolphus (14-2-4).
Which sectional semifinal game will be played first will not be determined
until later this afternoon. Ticket prices will also be announced later this
afternoon.
Calvin advanced to the sectional round of NCAA III Tournament play with a 2-1
upset victory at second-ranked Ohio Wesleyan last Saturday night with senior
Kurt Visker of Grand Rapids Christian High School scoring two second half goals
including the game-winner with under 14 minutes to play in regulation time.
The winner of the sectional round will advance to the NCAA III Final Four in
Greensboro, North Carolina, scheduled for November 25 and 26.
