Women's Soccer Falls to U. of Chicago In Meeting of Nationally-Ranked
Teams;
Both Soccer Teams Nationally-Ranked

WOMEN'S SOCCER
U. of Chicago 4, Calvin 0

CHICAGO, IL - Calvin's first meeting against the University of Chicago since
1990 proved to be an unkind one for the Knights as the host Maroons rang up a
convincing 4-0 non-conference victory Tuesday afternoon at legendary Stagg
Field.

Tuesday's game proved to be a meeting of nationally-ranked teams as Calvin
(8-2-1 overall) entered the game ranked 19th in the latest Division III Top-25
poll released by the National Soccer Coaches of America while Chicago was
ranked 17th. Calvin had won the two prior meetings with Chicago, winning 4-0
in 1990 and 3-0 in 1989.

Calvin's national ranking is its first since the 1998 season. The seasoned
Maroons (6-2-1 overall) proved their mettle on Tuesday however by scoring twice
in each half while limiting the Knights to just four shots on goal. Chicago
finished with 17 shots at goal including 12 in the second half.

Heading into Tuesday's game, Calvin had not allowed a goal in more than 560
minutes of play but Chicago made quick work of the scoreless streak, scoring
just 2:33 into the contest as Renee Neuner scored off an assist from Kay Saul.
Neuner added goals in the 20th and 63rd minute of play to notch a hat-trick
performance. Jordan Pouliot put the capper on the win for the Maroons with a
goal in the 73rd minute of play.

Calvin senior goalkeeper Linda Heilman (South Christian HS) was busy
throughout the match, recording six saves. Andrea Przybysz had two saves for
Chicago in gaining the shutout win. Junior forward Sarah Weesies (Kalamazoo
Christian HS) had two of Calvin's four shots while freshmen Ashley Bolen
(Urbana, IL) and Lauren Bergstrom (Rochester, MN) had one shot apiece.

Calvin returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Alma for an MIAA match
slated to start at 5:00 p.m. at Alma's Scotland Yard.
