CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 2005
MEN'S GOLF
ZANESVILLE, OH -- Calvin opened its spring schedule by competing at the two-day
Muskegon College Invitational Friday, posting a team score of 316.
Calvin's score is currently good for 11th place in a field of 16 teams. Ohio
Wesleyan leads the pack with a team score of 287 heading into the final round
of competition - scheduled for Saturday.
Sophomore Tim VanVugt (Brookfield, WI) had Calvin's best individual score on
Friday, firing a round of 76th that has him currently in 30th place. Senior
Mike Bratt (Lynden, WA) was Calvin's second-best finisher, carding a score of
78 with sophomore Jeff TenBrink (Kalamazoo Christian HS) close behind with a
round of 80.
Rounding out Calvin's finishers were sophomore Jake Wolffis (Western Michigan
Christian HS) with a round of 82 and junior Nick Bolt (New Berlin, WI) with a
score of 86.
Calvin is scheduled to begin its second round of competition Saturday morning.
The two-day invitational is being held at the Eaglesticks Golf Course.
BASEBALL
Calvin's MIAA opening games against Kalamazoo has been postponed because of wet
field conditions on the Calvin baseball field. The Knights were scheduled to
host Kalamazoo on Saturday in a twinbill at 1:00 p.m. and then face the
Hornets in a single nine-inning game on Monday.
The Monday game has also been postponed. A makeup date has not yet been set.
Saturday's doubleheader with Kalamazoo has been rescheduled for next Tuesday,
March 29 with a start time yet to be announced.
