CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR MARCH 4, 2005

MEN'S SWIMMING

For the fourth straight year, Calvin College senior Peter Boumgarden has
qualified for the NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships. A native of
Naperville, Illinois and a graduate of Naperville North High School, Boumgarden
will compete in the 100 butterfly where he is seeded third with a time of
49.78. Boumgarden's best national finish in the event is second place which he
achieved at the 2002 national meet. He is a three-time NCAA III All-American
in the 100 butterfly. Boumgarden may also compete in one or two other events
in which he has provisionally qualified but the list of those events has not
yet been determined.

The NCAA III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships are scheduled to be held
March 17-19 nearby at the Holland Aquatic Center with Hope College serving as
host.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Calvin opened its season with an 8-1 loss to Division II Grand Valley State
University Thursday night at the Ramblewood Tennis Center in Grandville. The
Knights are scheduled to return to action on March 14 when they compete against
St. Lawrence University in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

ICE HOCKEY

Calvin picked up its second victory in as many days at the ACHA Division III
National Tournament in Pittsburgh as the Knights topped Florida Atlantic
University 4-1 Friday afternoon in a loser's bracket game.

Calvin broke a 1-1 tie with three goals in the third period to put the game
away.

Calvin (26-4) received single goals from seniors Tom Burry (Doylestown, PA) and
juniors Matt Evans (New Alexandria, PA), Max Sieplinga (Grand Rapids Christian
HS) and Nick VerKuyl (Whitby, ON). Sieplinga also collected two assists on the
afternoon while sophomore Greg Clark (LaPorte, IN) was credited with the
victory in nets.

Calvin will play for ninth place in the 16-team tournament on Saturday
afternoon when it faces Arizona State at 1:00 p.m.
