CSR (Ricky Shilts Named MIAA Co-Player of the Week in Men's Basketball)

MEN'S BASKETBALL

For the second time in his career and for the first time this year, Calvin
College senior Ricky Shilts has received MIAA Player of the Week of the honors
in men's basketball.

A native of Kalamazoo and a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, Shilts
shares the award this week with Hope senior Daane Griffeth.

This past week in a pair of conference games, Shilts notched back-to-back
20-point scoring performances while shooting better than 50 percent from beyond
the three-point arc.

On the week, Shilts was 11 of 20 from the floor, eight of 15 from three-point
range, 10 of 10 at the free throw line and was credited with eight assists
against only four turnovers, six rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.

in a 78-76 overtime loss at Albion Wednesday, Shilts scored 20 points which
included four of eight shooting from beyond the arc. He then returned to his
hometown on Saturday as he led Calvin to a 97-83 victory at Kalamazoo College,
scoring 20 points on the strength of four of seven shooting from long range.

Shilts is currently averaging 10.3 points and 3.6 assists per game while
connecting on a team-best 89.3 percent (50 of 56) of his free throw attempts.
He is also shooting 42.2 percent (38 of 90) from three-point range. In league
games, he is currently the MIAA leader in free throw percentage, is seventh in
three-point field goal percentage and ninth in assists per game.

Calvin is currently 16-5 overall and tied for first place in the MIAA standings
with Albion at 8-2 in conference play. The Knights return to action on
Wednesday for a home contest against Olivet scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at
the Calvin Fieldhouse.
