MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Calvin men's basketball team has moved up five spots in the latest D3hoops.com Top-25 poll as the Knights are ranked 18th in the latest poll after breaking into the poll last week at #23.

Calvin (15-4 overall, 7-1 MIAA) is one of two ranked MIAA teams as Albion (17-1 overall, 7-1 MIAA) is ranked fifth in this week's poll, up one spot from last week. Calvin and Albion are currently tied for the MIAA lead and will meet Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Albion's Kresge Gymnasium.

In the first meeting of the year between the two schools, Albion recorded a 68-65 victory at the Calvin Fieldhouse. That game was played on January 8.

Since that meeting, Calvin has put together a season-best six-game win streak with its latest victory, an 80-51 win over Adrian this past Saturday at the Calvin Fieldhouse.

Calvin will be on the road for two games this week as it will also journey to Kalamazoo on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. contest at the Anderson Athletic Center.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

The 2004 Calvin women's soccer team has received the prestigious adiddas Team Ethics Award by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

The award is given to teams that did not receive a red card during the 2004 season and also received a low amount of cautionary yellow cards. Teams assessed between six-to-10 yellow cards during the season were given the award at the bronze level. Teams with one-to-five cumulative yellow cards during the year were honored at the silver level while teams without a yellow card all year were honored at the gold level.

Under the direction of head coach Mark Recker, Calvin received the award at the silver level as the Knights were assessed just two yellow cards during the 2004 season. Calvin was one of three MIAA schools to receive the adiddas Team Ethics Award at the silver level as Albion and Alma were also so honored.

The complete list of teams receiving the award can be found at: http://www.nscaa/com/docs/awards/2004Awards/04teamethics.htm
