CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR JANUARY 23, 2005
MORE CALVIN-HOPE BASKETBALL INFORMATION
The 155th meeting between Calvin and Hope in men's basketball will take
place on Monday night with a tip-off time of 8:00 p.m.
The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, January 22 at 3:00 p.m. but
was postponed because of a winter blizzard that swept through West Michigan on
Saturday, dropping more than a foot of snow on the area.
Monday's game will be part of a women's/men's doubleheader with the
Calvin-Hope women's basketball teams facing each other at the Calvin
Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m. There will be no admission charge for the women's
game but in order to remain for the men's game at 8:00, spectators must have
a ticket for the men's game.
In addition, there will be a live telecast of the men's game by WGVU-TV
35/52 which serves as the PBS affiliate in West Michigan. The telecast was
originally scheduled for Saturday but will instead take place on Monday night
beginning at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday's telecast was also scheduled to be aired via satellite around the
globe, particularly to alumni gatherings at several locations across the
country.
***There will be no satellite transmission of Monday's game by WGVU-TV 35/52
as reported in the previous Calvin Sports Report. Calvin and Hope officials
are currently in the process of working out details for a satellite broadcast
of the second meeting between Calvin and Hope in men's basketball. That
meeting is scheduled for February 16 at the Holland Civic Center in Holland.
If a satellite transmission of the broadcast can be solidified, an announcement
will be made the to public including all of the alumni chapters of both
institutions.***
The Calvin men's basketball team entered Saturday locked in a three-way tie

and Hope entered the day locked in a three-way tie for first place with Albion

Knights while the Grand Valley women also recorded a victory over the Calvin
women, defeating the Knights by a 166-78 score.
