CALVIN SPORTS REPORT (PART ONE) FOR JANUARY 5, 2005

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

EDITOR'S NOTE: In Wednesday's sports report, it was noted that Calvin
senior point guard Kristen McDonald established a new Calvin single-game record
for assists with 12 in an 84-73 victory over Tri-State University. After
revisiting the Calvin women's basketball archives, it was discovered that
McDonald's total of 12 assists matched the third-best single-game total in
Calvin women's basketball history but is not a record. The Calvin Sports
Information Department apologizes for the error.

The single-game record is held by 1985 Calvin graduate Amy Bierling who was
credited with 14 assists in a victory over Kalamazoo February 16, 1983.
Bierling's assist total against Kalamazoo is part of an MIAA single-game
record that she shares with Alma's Colleen Mahar. Mahar also tallied 14
assists in a February 14, 1981 game against Hope.

With her assist total of 12 assists last night against Tri-State however,
McDonald moved into first place on the MIAA assist list in conference games
this year as she is averaging 7.75 assists-per-game in four conference games.

The Calvin women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday night when
it journeys to St. Mary's for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The game will be aired
via RealAudio broadcast through the Calvin web site at: www.Calvin.edu/sports
with Josh Miller calling the play-by-play.

The Calvin women's basketball team is currently 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the
MIAA. The Knights currently hold a seven-game win streak.
