CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 13, 2004 (Part Two)
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING
The Calvin men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in a
quadrangular with Case Western Reserve, Kalamazoo and Denison on Saturday at
Eastern Michigan University. Head-to-head dual meet results were then
separated from the overall results.
In the men's competition, Calvin went 1-2 in dual meet action, defeating
Kalamazoo 128-84 while falling to Denison 133-85 and to Case Western Reserve
124-98.
In the women's competition, Calvin went 2-1 in dual meet action, defeating
Case Western Reserve 160-82 and Kalamazoo 146-96 while falling to Denison
137-96.

MEN'S CLUB ICE HOCKEY
The first Calvin-Hope ice hockey game ever played at the VanAndel Arena went
down to the final seconds and when the final horn had sounded, Calvin was able
to come away with a 4-3 victory.
Calvin junior Nick VerKuyl scored the game-winning goal with just 10 seconds
left in regulation as he scooped up a turnover in the neutral zone, raced into
the Hope end and blasted in a shot from the left point to give the Knights a
4-3 lead.
Calvin had taken a 3-1 lead on goals by sophomore Jeff Crawford (Northville),
senior Aaron Okkema (Ancaster, ON) and junior Max Sieplinga (Grand Rapids
Christian HS) only to see Hope come back to tie the score with a late second
half goal and an early tally in the third period.
Saturday's game at the VanAndel Arena was part of a double-header with the
Grand Rapids Griffins-San Antonio Rampage game with fans buying one ticket and
getting to see both contests.
Calvin is now 12-0 on the year and ranked number one in the latest set of
regional rankings. On Friday night, Calvin took on Grand Valley State and
skated away with a 2-0 victory.
