CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2004

WOMEN'S GOLF

Calvin junior Annie Huizenga used ideal playing conditions on her home course
to come up with the final 18-round score of her collegiate career Thursday
afternoon as she fired a round of 79 to earn medalist honors at the Calvin/Hope
Invitational. Thursday's invitational was hosted by Calvin at the Thornapple
Pointe Golf Club.

A native of Hudsonville and a graduate of Unity Christian High School, Huizenga
took first place in a field of 27 golfers as she carded a 41 on the front nine
and came back with a 38 on the back.

Huizenga is the first individual in Calvin women's golf history to earn
medalist honors at an invitational.

Her score on Thursday helped Calvin finish fourth in a field of five teams as
the Knights posted a team score of 364. Manchester of Indiana took first at
346 with Tri-State second at 354, Hope third at 356 and Aquinas fifth at 382.

Also coming up with a superb effort for Calvin on Thursday was senior Dawn
Svenkeson (Scandia, MN) who shot an 84 that was good for a fifth place tie
individually.

Other Calvin finishers included junior Margaret Tassaro (Carnegie, PA) with a
93, sophomore Megan Andrews (Midland) with a round of 108 and sophomore Abby
Stemler (Elk River, MN) with a round of 111.
