CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR APRIL 26, 2004
WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
Calvin College junior Sue Abbring has broken another school record. The
Highland, Indiana native eclipsed her own mark in the 200 meters this past
Saturday at the Hillsdale Gina Relays with an NCAA III automatic qualifying
time of 24.46, breaking her previous record of 24.52 established a year ago.
Earlier it was reported that Abbring had clocked in with a second place time
of 24.54. Her time was actually a hand time and when the fully automated
results were released this morning, it was revealed that Abbring had posted the
fastest 200 meter time in Calvin women's track and field history.
Abbring's time of 24.46 is the second-fastest time in NCAA III women's
track and field this spring, surpassed only by the time of 24.41 established by
defending national champion Amber James of Wheaton College (MA) earlier this
spring. A year ago, Abbring was an NCAA III All-American in the 200 meters as
she took fourth in the event. Abbring also holds the Calvin record in the 100
meters (12.08) established at the Millikin Classic April 17.

III list for scoring margin.
Under the direction of head coach Kevin Vande Streek, Calvin finished the
season with a 19-10 overall record and advanced to the NCAA III Tournament for
the 14th time in school history after capturing the MIAA Tournament title for
