Winkle Named to All-Freshman Team By Women's DIII News

The post-season honors continue to roll in for Calvin College freshman Lisa
Winkle.

A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of South Christian High School, Winkle
has been named to the All-Freshman team by Women's Division III News. Winkle
is one of just 12 players nationwide out of 426 NCAA Division III schools to be
so honored.

Winkle was recently named to the Great Lakes All-Region third team by
D3hoops.com after receiving All-MIAA first team accolades shortly after the
conclusion of the 2003-2004 season. Winkle is the first freshman in Calvin
women's basketball history to be named to the All-MIAA first team. She is
also the first individual in Calvin women's basketball history to be named to
the Women's Division III News All-Freshman team.

During the season, Winkle was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the
Week and received MIAA Player of the Week honors once.

Over the course of the season, Winkle averaged 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and
2.5 blocked shots per-game while also connecting on 59.3 percent of her field
goal attempts. During the season, Winkle ranked among the NCAA III leaders in
field goal percentage and blocked shots per-game.

Calvin finished the season with a 23-4 overall record while capturing its
first MIAA title since 1999 with a 13-1 conference mark. During the season,
Calvin ripped off a 21-game win streak, one short of matching the Calvin
single-season mark. The Knights also achieved their first national ranking
since the 1999-2000 season as they were ranked 24th by D3hoops.com in its
February 22 Top-25 national poll.
