ALL-MIAA BASKETBALL TEAMS ANNOUNCED
The All-MIAA men's and women's basketball teams have been released and several Calvin players have received All-MIAA recognition.
On the women's side, Calvin junior Kristen McDonald (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids West Catholic HS) and freshman Lisa Winkle (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids South Christian HS) have been named to the All-MIAA first team while senior Kim Wolthuis (Alto/Grand Rapids South Christian HS) has been named to the All-MIAA second team. In addition, junior Lisa Nanninga (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian High School) received honorable mention recognition from the MIAA coaches. McDonald and Wolthuis are both receiving All-MIAA accolades for the first time.
Calvin women's basketball coach John Ross was also named as MIAA Women's Basketball Coach of the Year * becoming the first Calvin coach to receive the honor. The MIAA MVP was senior Karen Hall of Alma College who is also a graduate of Grand Rapids West Catholic High School. St. Mary's junior Katie Boyce was named the MIAA's Defesive Player of the Year.
On the men's side, Calvin senior Chris Prins (Escondido, CA/Escondido Calvin Christian HS) and junior Dan Aultman (Ludington/Mason County Central HS) have been named to the All-MIAA first team. Calvin seniors Kevin Broene (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Ryan Smalligan (East Grand Rapids/East Grand Rapids HS) have been named to the All-MIAA second team.
Prins and Aultman are making their first appearance on the All-MIAA first team with Broene making his third straight showing on the second team. Smalligan is making his first appearance on the second team.
The MIAA MVP was Hope College sophomore Andy Phillips.

SMALLIGAN AND PRINS NAMED MIAA CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Calvin seniors Chris Prins and Ryan Smalligan have been named MIAA Co-Players of the Week for the final week of the MIAA season.
Prins finished last week's MIAA tournament with 44 points and 10 rebounds. He also collected nine steals, five assists and one blocked shots. In addition, he was 19 of 24 at the free throw line (.792), 3 of 6 from three-point range and 11 of 27 overall. In the championship game against Adrian, Prins scored a game-high 17 points.
Smalligan also had a big MIAA Tournament, collecting 20 rebounds, seven blocked shots, six assists and four steals over the course of the league tournament week and was also 2 of 5 from the floor and 3 of 4 at the line. In the championship game against Adrian, he had a game-high nine rebounds.
Both players are receiving MIAA Player of the Week Honors for the first time.
NCAA III TOURNAMENT TICKETS ON SALE TOMORROW
The starting time for Thursday's first round NCAA III Tournament game at John Carroll University is set for 7:00 p.m.. A limited amount of tickets for Thursday's game will go on sale Tuesday, March 2nd at noon and remain on sale while supplies last until Wednesday, March 3rd at 5pm. Tickets are $4 General Admission and $3 for Students and Sr. Citizens.
