CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 6, 2004

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Amidst the snowy, cold weather Calvin was able to keep its
win streak alive with a 60-38 victory over St. Mary's College. The Knights
extended their win streak to seven games and moved into a tie with Albion for
second place in the MIAA with a 3-1 mark.

The catalyst for the Knights in the first half was freshman Lisa Winkle (South
Christian) who tallied ten first half points en route to a 31-15 Calvin
halftime lead. The Knights extended their lead to as high as 28 points in the
second half while shooting 27-of-54 for the game (50 percent). St. Mary's
outrebounded the Knights 38-33 on the glass, but also committed 21 turnovers to
Calvin's 17 turnovers.

Calvin was led by Winkle who tallied 14 points on a perfect 7-7 shooting from
the floor. Next was junior Lisa Nanninga (Grand Rapids Christian) who notched
10 points while senior guard Kim Wolthuis (South Christian) added seven points
and five steals. Junior Rita Ouwinga (McBain Christian) was the high rebounder
for the Knights as she pulled down six boards.

While the Knights shot 50 percent from the floor the Belles were only able to
muster 24.5 percent for the game (13-of-53). Calvin shot 4-of-8 from the free
throw line while St. Mary's connected on 11-of-20 (55 percent).

The Knights return to action on Saturday against Kalamazoo at 3:00 p.m. The
