CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR Monday, November 17, 2003

    WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING EXTRA

In the November 16 Calvin sports report, it was noted that there was no diving competition at the quadrangular hosted by the University of Michigan Saturday night. In fact there were two diving competitions * one and three-meter * but results were not made available over the weekend.

    Results have now been released.

In the women's one-meter competition Saturday night, Calvin went 1-4-5-7 with senior Sara TerHaar (Bradenton, FL) taking first place with a season-best score of 211.28 with sophomore Jodi Offringa (Unity Christian HS) taking fourth with a season-best score of 191.70. Sophomore Julie Erickson (Libertyville, IL) also had a season-best performance in taking fifth with a score of 10.35. In addition, freshman Molly Fuller (Beaver, PA) had a season-best performance in taking fifth (175.56) while junior Anna Battoclette (Cincinnati, OH) was seventh (169.95).

In the three-meter competition, TerHaar sparkled, winning with a career-best score of 246.37 that was less than nine points away from Calvin's school record. TerHaar was one of three Calvin divers to post a score above 200 points as Offringa was third (211.57) and Erickson fourth (204.60). Battoclette just missed the 200-point barrier in taking seventh (197.40) while Fuller was eighth (156.97).
