    CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR April 5, 2003

    WOMEN'S COLLEGE TENNIS

    Calvin moved to 5-3 on the year with a split of non-conference matches over the weekend in Wheaton, Illinois. Calvin opened the weekend with a 5-4 victory over host Wheaton late Friday night. Calvin then dropped a 5-4 decision to Olivet Nazarene Saturday afternoon in a match played at Wheaton.

    Calvin returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Kalamazoo to take on the league-leading Hornets at 3:00 p.m.

    CALVIN ATHLETIC EVENTS POSTPONED ON SATURDAY

    The bulk of Calvin's Saturday athletic events were postponed because of an ice storm that swept through the Grand Rapids area Friday night. Calvin's baseball, softball, men's tennis and men's and women's track and field events were all postponed on Saturday.

    Calvin's baseball doubleheader at Hope has been rescheduled for April 8 at 2:00 p.m. The first game of the series is scheduled for April 7 at 4:00 p.m. Calvin's softball doubleheader at home against Alma was postponed until April 10 with a starting time of 3:30 p.m. Calvin's track and field dual meets against the Alma men's and women's teams originally scheduled for Saturday were postponed. A makeup date has not yet been announced. In addition, the Calvin men's tennis team's match at Alma was postponed until April 21 with a starting time of 3:00 p.m.
