Calvin Sports Report for March 15, 2002
WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
Calvin's 200 medley relay team of senior Erin Kloostra, juniors Mara McGuin
and Katie Nagelkirk and sophomore Brittney Stevens finished 20th in the
preliminaries of the NCAA III Swimming & Diving Championships Friday morning
with a time of 1:53.34 and will not advance to the championship or consolation
finals this evening. Calvin was seeded 20th in the event heading into the
meet.
Nagelkirk also swam in the preliminaries of the 200 freestyle this morning but
did not advance to the championship or consolation round in the event as she
finished 31st with a time of 1:58.00. Nagelkirk was seeded 26th heading into
the competition.
Calvin's 800 freestyle relay team of Nagelkirk, Conrad, McGuin and Kloostra
is also scheduled to compete this evening.
On Saturday, Nagelkirk will compete in the 100 freestyle where she is seeded
10th and will then join McGuin, Kloostra and Conrad on Calvin's 400 freestyle
relay team which is seeded eighth.
WOMEN'S TENNIS
Calvin closed out its spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina, with an
8-1 win over Ithaca of New York. The victory lifted Calvin's record to 3-2
overall. The Knights return to action on March 27 when they travel to Aquinas
for a non-conference match scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.
