Tricia Dyk Named to All-MIAA 2nd Team in Women's Basketball
GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Calvin College junior Tricia Dyk has been named to the
All-MIAA 2nd team in women's basketball. A native of Grand Haven and a
graduate of Western Michigan Christian High School, Dyk is making her first
appearance on the All-MIAA 2nd team. A three-year starter in the backcourt for
the Calvin women's basketball team, Dyk led the Knights in scoring with an
average of 9.6 points a game. She also averaged 4.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds and
3.12 steals-per-game.
In league games, Dyk averaged 9.3 points a game and led the MIAA in assists and
steals with 60 assists and 40 steals for averages of 4.29 assists and 2.86
steals-per-game. During the year, she received MIAA Player of the Week honors
for the first time in her collegiate basketball career. Dyk's All-MIAA 2nd
team award caps a standout junior athletic campaign that also saw her receive
MIAA MVP accolades in women's soccer as well as a spot on the All-MIAA 1st
team for the third straight year and a spot on the Great Lakes All-Region 2nd
team for the second straight year.
Also receiving honorable mention recognition from the MIAA coaches from Calvin
were junior Emily Beard and sophomores Katie Corner and Kim Wolthuis. Beard is
a 6-0 center from Lathrup who prepped at Southfield Christian High School. She
averaged 7.3 points and a team-leading 7.5 rebounds a game while also swatting
away a team-leading 43 blocked shots. Corner is a 5-10 forward from Grand
Rapids who graduated from Catholic Central High School. A first-year starter,
Corner averaged 7.9 points and 5.5 rebounds a game for the Knights while
connecting on 46.7 percent of her field goal attempts. Wolthuis is from Alto
and is a graduate of South Christian High School. The backcourt partner of Dyk
this year, Wolthuis finished second on the Calvin squad in scoring at 8.4 points
a game. She also collected 55 steals for an average of 2.2 steals-per-game.
Calvin finished the year with a 12-13 overall record and placed tied for fourth
place in the MIAA regular season standings with a 7-7 conference mark.
