Tricia Dyk Named MIAA Co-Player of the Week

GRAND RAPIDS, MI, For the first time in her career, Calvin College junior
Tricia Dyk has been named MIAA Player of the Week in women's basketball. Dyk
shares the award this week with Alma junior Shelly Ulfig.

A native of Grand Haven and a graduate of Western Michigan Christian High
School, Dyk helped lead the Calvin women's basketball team to a pair of
conference victories this past week as the Knights snapped a two-game losing
streak and got back to the .500 mark on the season.

In a 71-69 overtime victory at Alma Wednesday night, Dyk scored a season-high
25 points while also collecting eight rebounds, fie assists and three steals.
Her scoring total was just two points short of matching a career-high and it
also helped Calvin defeat Alma for the first time since 1999 and secure its
first overtime win since 1997. In a 73-46 win over Olivet Saturday afternoon
at the Calvin Fieldhouse, Dyk came up with another all-around stellar
performance as she dished out a career-high nine assists while also collecting
seven points, seven steals and five rebounds.

A three-year starter at the point guard position, Dyk is averaging a
team-leading 9.6 points along with 3.4 rebounds a game. She is also averaging
an MIAA-leading 4.2 assists and 3.2 steals-per-contest. In eight league
contests, she has 41 assists and 24 steals for MIAA-leading averages of 5.1
    assists and 3.0 steals-per-game.

Although Dyk is receiving MIAA Player of the Week accolades in women's
basketball for the first time in her career, she is not receiving MIAA Player
of the Week honors for the first time as she is a three-time MIAA Player of the
Week in women's soccer. This fall, she was named the MIAA's Most Valuable
Player and was named to the Great Lakes All-Region second team in women's
    soccer.

The Calvin women's basketball team is currently 9-9 overall and in fifth place
in the MIAA standings with a 4-4 conference mark. The Knights return to action
Saturday when they travel to Kalamazoo to face the Hornets in an MIAA contest
slated to start at 7:30 pm at the Anderson Athletic Center.
