Calvin's bid to snap Hope's 37-game regular season win streak came up short
Saturday afternoon at the Calvin Fieldhouse as the Knights fell 66-51 to the
    second-ranked Flying Dutch.

Calvin's upset bid was not short on effort however as the Knights (7-9
overall, 2-4 MIAA) trailed just 26-21 at halftime and then closed to within two
points at 45-43 with just 9:51 remaining. Calvin fell behind by 11 points at

18-9 scoring run over the next eight minutes to close to within two. Calvin
received field goals from five separate individuals in the scoring spurt capped
off by a spinning layup in the lane by sophomore Kim Wolthuis (South Christian)
with just under 10 minutes to play.

Hope (17-0 overall, 6-0 MIAA) then rattled off an 8-2 scoring run behind key
baskets from seniors Becky Sutton, Jodi Boom and Laura Poppema to go up 53-45.
Calvin would get no closer than six points the rest of the way as the Flying
Dutch outscored Calvin 10-3 in the final 4:13 of regulation.

    standings.

collected three steals off the bench. Hope was led by Sutton who pumped in a
game-high 22 points while Poppema had 18 points and a game-high eight rebounds
with junior Amy Baltmanis added 10 points and five assists.
