    MEN'S BASKETBALL

For the second consecutive year, Calvin sophomore Jeremy Veenstra has received All-America honors from D3hoops.com. A native of Kalamazoo and a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School, Veenstra was named a fourth team All-American by D3hoops.com. A year ago, Veenstra was an honorable mention All-America selection by the organization.

A 6-6 forward, Veenstra averaged 18.6 points and 7.9 rebounds a game while leading Calvin to its third straight MIAA championship and second straight NCAA III Tournament berth as the Knights finished 23-5 overall and 10-2 in conference play. Veenstra also finished second in the MIAA in field goal percentage (.566); third in rebound average (8.5); seventh in free throw percentage (.780) and ninth in assists-per-game (3.2) and blocked-shots-per-game (0.8). After leading Calvin to its second straight MIAA Tournament title, he was named the MIAA's MVP and landed a spot on the All-MIAA first team for the second straight year. Veenstra reached double figures in scoring in 27 of Calvin's 28 games this year and finished the year with an 18-game double-figure scoring streak. Veenstra was named MIAA Player of the Week three times this and was also selected to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week twice.

With a 16-point effort in an 89-78 second round NCAA III Tournament loss to Ohio Northern, Veenstra cracked the 1,000 point barrier for his career, becoming the 14th player in Calvin men's basketball history to achieve the feat and just the third player to do so in his sophomore year.
