    WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

    DUBUQUE, IA - Calvin rebounded from a double-digit loss to Concordia of
    Nebraska Friday evening with a 60-47 victory over Mount Mercy of Iowa
    Saturday afternoon, allowing the Knights to finish third in the
    eight-team Clarke College Holiday Tournament.

    Calvin will carry a .500 record into its MIAA opener Wednesday night
    against Olivet as the Knights improved to 5-5 with their victory over
    Mount Mercy.

    Sophomores Jennifer Plakmeyer (Calvin Christian) and Emily Mejeur
    (Kalamazoo Christian) led the Calvin scoring attack against Mount Mercy
    (5-11) as Plakmeyer pumped in a game-high 20 points including a trio of
    three-point shots while Mejeur added 10 points off the bench including a
    pair of trifectas. Sophomore guard Tricia Dyk (Western Michigan
    Christian) also came up with a solid floor game as she came up with
    seven rebounds, six points, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes of
    action. Sophomore Emily Beard (Southfield Christian) also matched a
    career-high in rebounds with 11 caroms while also adding four points.

    Heather Wooldrik led Mount Mercy with 17 points whiile Brandy Schmit had
    14 points and 13 rebounds.

    Calvin led 30-21 at halftime and maintained a solid lead throughout the
    second half. Calvin shot 42.6 percent overall including 52.2 percent in
    the second half. Defensively, Calvin held the Mustangs to 27 percent
    field goal shooting in each half.

    Calvin also held a 44-40 rebounding edge including a 36-24 edge on the
    defensive glass.

    In its loss to Concordia (10-3) Friday night, Calvin was led by Mejeur
    with 11 points while Beard added seven. Calvin shot just 33.3 percent
    in the loss including just 28.1 percent in the second half. Concordia
    was led by Becky Mooney with 16 points while Hayle Kobza had 14 and Sara
    Kuhlman 12.

    Wednesday night's MIAA opener against Olivet will begin at 7:30 at the
    Calvin Fieldhouse.
