Katie Pals Post BA 2016

For the past year I have been teaching English to students ages three to seven at Colegio Escuelas Pías in Madrid, Spain. We use a theme-based curriculum with units that convert our preschool wing into a magical forest, medieval castle, or chef's kitchen. The units' songs, storytelling, and games provide students with a variety of ways to receive comprehensible English input. Two of my favorite things about this experience have been getting to know the families at my school and working with my Spanish colleagues. There is a strong sense of community at Escuelas Pías. We take interest in each others' languages, cultures, and lives.
