All first-year students at Calvin for the fall semester will attend QUEST, which is a three-and-a-half day orientation program that takes place prior to the start of classes. After helping your student move in (if they are resident students), plan to participate in afternoon events especially for family members.

If your student is transferring to Calvin from another institution, please see the Transfer QUEST page.

QUEST runs from August 30 – September 2, 2018.

What to expect
At QUEST you will
  • See your student's residence hall and help them move in
  • Visit the Parent Oasis tent (sponsored by the Parent Relations Office)
  • Eat at the family cookout
  • End the day by saying “good-bye” and sending your student off to start their first semester at Calvin!

Coming soon a tentative schedule for QUEST 2018. We welcome family members of all ages to assist in the move-in and the family cookout. At 6 p.m., plan to say good-bye to your student before they start their programming at 6:30 p.m.

The Prince Conference Center, a hotel owned and operated by Calvin College, has a limited number of rooms available for a fee. If you call to reserve a room, mention that you are with the QUEST program for a slight discount. There are also several off-campus options nearby.

Some things to keep in mind about registration
  • When students register for PASSPORT using their Applicant Status page, they are automatically registered for QUEST, along with you and any additional family members.
  • A $250 orientation fee will be charged to your student’s account in early September. This fee covers both orientation programs—PASSPORT and QUEST. Please note that there are additional costs associated with Wilderness Orientation.
