International PASSPORT is a six-day program designed for you as an adult family member and your new student. It takes place just before the school year begins. International PASSPORT provides a comprehensive introduction to Calvin College while also easing your student’s transition to North American culture.

Saturday, August 25–Thursday, August 30

More information

What to expect
At International PASSPORT you will:
  • Learn about services the college provides
  • Take trips to local department stores, malls, tourist attractions, and Lake Michigan
  • Meet the president, vice presidents, and faculty of the college
  • Get to know other families and students from around the world

The most convenient place to stay is the Prince Conference Center located on our campus that is owned and operated by Calvin College. To make a reservation, call the center (open 24 hours a day) and say you are with International PASSPORT to receive a special rate. Ask to be put on the waiting list if there is presently no availability.

There are also several off-campus options, but note that public transportation is very limited and you will need a car to get to and from campus.

Some things to keep in mind about registration
  • Students register online for International PASSPORT. When your student registers, they can also register you and any additional family members. Note: young family members are also welcome to come to International PASSPORT, but we do not offer special programming for them.
  • A $450 orientation fee will be charged to your student’s account in September. This fee covers all costs associated with orientation, with the majority covering meals. Up to two adult family members can attend International PASSPORT at no additional fee; additional family members are $50 to cover the cost of meals.
