What to expect

Expect a warm welcome to Calvin! At Transfer PASSPORT you’ll meet a lot of new people: almost 1,000 other new students and potential Facebook friends, plus current students, professors and staff members. You’ll learn a lot about Calvin and the resources that are here for you.

During Transfer PASSPORT, you’ll connect with an orientation group of about 20 other Transfer students who will go through Transfer PASSPORT together.

Transfer PASSPORT includes a service-learning component, Streetfest, where you’ll learn about one of the eclectic neighborhoods in Grand Rapids. Expect to have a lot of fun! By the end, you may be a bit tired (the days are full from approximately 9:00 Pm into the evening), but you’ll be ready for classes to begin on Tuesday, September 4.

Before you arrive

Checking In

You may move to campus on Thursday, August 30, after 9:00 a.m. Transfer PASSPORT officially begins for Transfer students with a kick-off meeting in in the early afternoon. Transfer PASSPORT will continue through Saturday, September 1.

On-Campus Students

Upon arrival, follow the road signs to your residence hall where you can check in after 9:00 a.m. You will be greeted by an army of "We-Haulers"—students who are eager to transport all of your belongings from your vehicle into your residence hall room! Given the afternoon schedule for Transfer students, we would encourage you to arrive closer to 9:00 a.m. so you can be completely moved into your room in time for the kick-off meeting at noon, where you will receive your schedule and instructions for the day.

Off-Campus Students

Plan to be at Calvin by noon for a kick-off meeting, where you will receive your schedule and instructions for the day.
