2019 Orientation Interns

Rebekah De Lange
I grew up among the cornfields of Northwest Indiana, but I now call Grand Rapids my home. Calvin has played a transformational role in my life by offering me the opportunities to get involved through Dance Guild, Period, Residence Life, and chapel worship teams. I'm an organizational communications major and international development studies minor, and my dream job is to work for a non-profit abroad.

Laura Harjanto
I’m a senior studying political science and economics with a minor in philosophy. As someone who grew up under the tropical sun and among the mountains of Indonesia, I never would’ve thought I would spend my college years in Michigan—yet, Calvin has become my home away from home. This is the place where I’ve been stretched and where I’ve grown; here, I found the people I can call my family and my community. I hope that it can be a home for you too!

Abby Vedders
I am a Pure Michigan girl through and through. I love taking advantage of Calvin’s amazing location, whether that means taking a trip to the beach (in the summer and the winter!), hiking, or heading to ArtPrize. The people I have met at Calvin have become like family. In May of 2020, I'll be graduating with a degree in English secondary education!

Josh Wilson
I am a senior at Calvin University with a major in Computer Science. I grew up in Ghana, Switzerland, and Trinidad and Tobago and have been blessed to travel and learn from various cultures. I am glad to call Calvin my new home and am grateful for all the opportunities Calvin has given me. I love soccer, music and food!

Dre Davidson
I am going to be a junior. I am a social work major with a music minor. I am from the south side of Chicago, and I love my city. Coming to Calvin has really blessed me and allowed me to meet new people from all over the world. I deeply value relationship and community, and I found just that coming to Calvin with the diversity amongst the student population. I never thought that I would be in leadership roles in college, but Calvin has truly changed me.

Anna VanWolde
Though my home has varied around different Midwest areas, I am currently placed in Holland, Michigan. Being able to still be close to the beach, Michigan hiking locations, and the wonderful city of Grand Rapids are just some of the reasons I love the location of Calvin. However, the community here is the number one reason I call this university my home. As I head into my senior year, I am excited to continue my nursing education, seek out the many opportunities Calvin has to offer, and further the community development that has already proven to be so fruitful in my life. Please stop me and ask questions if you see me: I love to talk!
