Time away from work is important to refresh and rejuvenate! The college provides eligible employees with paid time off to use for personal and vacation days. Up to two weeks of additional unpaid time may be requested by completing the unpaid vacation form. Time off is scheduled at the mutual convenience of the employee and supervisor. Vacation may not be carried over each calendar year. See handbook for more information.
Paid time off bank
Part-time hourly staff between half-time and full-time receive a bank of hours to be used at the employee’s discretion with supervisor approval for paid time off – including time for vacation, illness or family care. This time off is calculated in the same manner as vacation time for full-time hourly staff and then prorated on the basis of the employee’s FTE. This paid time off must be used during the calendar year during which it is received; any unused time will be forfeited at the end of the year. The college provides eligible employees with thirteen holidays as determined by the college each year. The holiday calendar will be posted by October for the following calendar year and it is located on the Forms and Documents Page.
The college offers paid time off to eligible employees for personal illness and medical appointments. Sick time is not accrued, may not be used as personal time, extra vacation or to care for a sick family member. Please see the handbook for additional information.
FMLA medical leave (greater than 5 days)
FMLA is the Family Medical Leave Act, a federal act which provides specific rights and responsibilities to employers and employees. The college provides eligible employees with paid leave for personal medical reasons when the leave is greater than five days. The leave request must be completed by your physician and may be taken intermittently or as a continuous leave. Please contact human resources to discuss eligibility and complete the necessary forms.
Staff members are entitled to take up to twelve weeks of maternity leave as outlined in the FMLA. The college offers up to six weeks of paid maternity leave, based on individual circumstances. For specific information on eligibility and return-to-work requirements, visit thehandbook.
Family care days
For eligible employees, the college offers two days of paid time off. These days may be used to care for an immediate family member and may include doctor and dentist appointments. Please seehandbook for more information.

The college provides eligible employees with job-protected unpaid leave for up to 12 weeks. Documented family medical leave may be taken intermittently or as a continuous leave. The college provides paid leave for eligible employees who are requested to appear for jury duty. Please see the handbook for guidelines on jury duty leave.
