This field of study is for high school students interested in figuring out what makes this world operate. What makes it turn. What keeps us in a certain place…or moves us away. What gives a being life, or ultimately takes it away.

The examination of life on a micro or macro scale finds itself rooted in the field of biology, and participants who have a desire to find the answers to the questions of “why” and “how” will find their place within this science. Participants in this field of study should come with an open mind and a willingness to examine all things “lively.” Participants will use their learning beyond the classroom, moving out into the living world and into the lab to look at how different systems function.

Whether it is looking at a human brain to understand how humans operate, foraging through the wilderness to determine which plants help save lives, examining other living creatures to understand how to preserve their populations among a changing world, or looking at beings on the cellular level to see what a disease looks like, this field of study is wide open for those who have a love and appreciation for life and a desire to influence it.
