Elise Veurink - I'm really excited about going to Calvin in the fall and I'll be majoring in nursing. I decided to go into the nursing because I think that the healthcare field needs more Christian witnesses and I will be able to care for people from a Christian perspective. Being a nurse will be challenging and rewarding, and it also opens up a lot of different job opportunities from being a school nurse to pediatrics to geriatrics and more, and not only that but nursing is also a growing field that offers opportunity for personal advancement. Something I'd like to do while studying to become a nurse or shortly after graduation is go on a missions trip overseas to provide care to people that can't otherwise afford it, and, Lord willing, that is something that I would like to continue doing later in life. I go to Illiana Christian High School in Lansing, Illinois and I am involved in a lot of things there but a few of my favorites are being a part of the costume crew in the drama department, being on the flag corps., and singing in the Chamber Singers choir. I'm close with my family so I'll miss them when I go to college, but I'm also excited to be out on my own. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends. I hope to get involved in college as well and because I really enjoy singing, I am hoping to be a part of one of the choirs at Calvin.

She also loves serving others and volunteers at her church taking care of the toddlers, she has also been on 3 mission trips and would like to go on another in college. Her favorite artists are Mumford and Sons, Justin Timberlake, The Lumineers, and Bruno Mars. Her favorite TV shows are Saved by the Bell, One Tree Hill, and Psych.
