The Hep A vaccine series may be started whenever a person wishes to reduce their risk of the disease; or for travelers the vaccine series should be started at least one month prior to traveling for best protection. Two doses of the vaccine are needed for lasting protection. These doses should be given at least 6 months apart.

Hepatitis B

Schedule:
  • The first dose may be given anytime.
  • The second dose may be given 1-2 months after the first dose.
  • The third dose may be given 4-6 months after first dose.
  • The 0.5cc dose is given to individuals 19 and younger.
  • The 1cc dose is given to individuals 20 and older.
  • A Hepatitis B titer with a positive result fulfills requirement.

HPV-Gardasil

Schedule:
This vaccine is recommended for males and females age 9 years through 26 years. Most adolescents 9 through 14 years of age should receive HPV vaccine as a two-dose series, with the doses separated by 6-12 months. If the first dose is given after the age of 15, it is a three-dose series with the 2nd and 3rd doses given at two and six months after the 1st.

Influenza

Schedule:
All people 6 months of age and older should receive the flu vaccine annually. It is available in September and throughout the flu season.

MMR (Measles Mumps Rubella)

Schedule:
Children should have received 2 doses of MMR vaccine: The first at 12-15 months of age and the second at 4-6 months of age. Adults who have not completed this series as a child need two doses of the MMR vaccine at least 4 weeks apart. A positive bood titer for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps and Rubella also fulfills requirements.

Meningitis Conjugate (Menactra/Menveo) - Vaccine must cover strains A, C, Y, and W-135.

Schedule:
  • Give MCV4 to all unvaccinated teens, ages 13 through 18 yrs; if vaccinated at age 11-15 yrs, a booster dose at age 16-18 yrs is required.
  • Vaccinate all incoming students who have not been vaccinated.
  • Give additional booster doses every 5 yrs if risk continues.

Schedule:
This vaccine is given as a two-dose/three-dose series to people 10 to 25 years of age, and to some high-risk individuals.

Polio

Schedule:
Injectible polio vaccine (IPV) or oral polio vaccine (OPV) series as a child fulfills requirement, in a four-dose series. Adults who were not vaccinated as a child should receive 3 doses of IPV. The first dose at any time, the second dose 1-2 months later, and the third dose 6-12 months after the second dose.

Tetanus Diphtheria

Schedule:
People who have not received at least 3 doses of any tetanus and diphtheria vaccine (DTP, Dtap, or DT) during their lifetime should do so. After a person receives the third dose, a Td booster is needed every 10 years.

Tetanus Diphtheria Pertussis

Schedule:
Adolescents aged 11-18 should receive one booster of Tdap. Adults aged 19-64 should substitute Tdap for one booster dose of Td.

Tuberculin Testing

Schedule:
People who answer "Yes" to any questions on the TB Self Screening portion of their Health History form will need to have a TB test. Also, it is recommended that people who have traveled to high risk countries will need a TB test 3 months after their travels. The TB test will need to be read within 48-72 hours after administration. Tb blood tests with a negative result also fulfill requirement in place of a TB skin test.

Typhoid (Injectable or oral)

Schedule:
Inactivated vaccine given at least two weeks prior to traveling to areas of risk. A booster is needed every two years. Live (oral), 4 doses given at least 1 week before travel abroad. Booster needed every 5 years.

Varicella

Schedule:
Those who have never had chicken pox disease need to receive 2 doses of the vaccine. First dose, 12-15 months of age, 2nd dose 4-6 years old, but at least three months after the first dose. People 13 years or older need 2 doses, 28 days apart or more. A varicella titer with a positive result also fulfills requirement.

Yellow Fever

Schedule:
Persons 9 months of age or older traveling to or living in a country that requires yellow fever vaccination should get this vaccine. Persons 9 months of age or older traveling to or living in a country that does not require yellow fever vaccination but is located in an area where the risk of yellow fever is known to exist should receive this vaccine. Vaccine is valid for lifetime, with proof.
