Volleyball Instructional Camps

Individual volleyball camps for players entering grades 3-12 *Boys are now welcome in all sessions except the overnight ID camp (Session F)

SESSION I:
Please note: we absolutely MUST close registration at 4pm on Thursday, August 16. Calvin student-athletes are returning on Friday, August 17 & we must take care of them and prepare for your Saturday morning camp. 

IF Coach Warners allows walk-ups/late registration, the fee will be $100.00, payable by check or exact change cash only (no credit cards) & a paper registration will be required. For questions, you may email Coach Warners at awarners@calvin.edu

Walk-up Registrations ARE NOT guaranteed a spot in ANY session. 

Any walk-up registrations on the first day of camp, if accepted, will also be charged an additional $20.00 (cash or check ONLY, due immediately). T-shirts & other camp gifts are not guaranteed to ANYONE who registers within 2 weeks of the first day of camp.

Lodging is included for Session F only

All day campers will be given a water bottle, t-shirt, and volleyball which is included in the price of camp.  When submitting a t-shirt size please realize that a youth 10-12 is not meant for a girl ages 10-12 but in actuality is smaller and fits younger children.

Session information

SESSION A

*Co-ed session

Grades 3-6 Skills Camp: Monday-Thursday, July 9-12, 9:00–11:30am

Cost: $110.00 ($55 deposit required with registration)

Session A will focus on 3 main goals: 

  1. Introducing the game of volleyball and how it is played including teaching the rules and basic strategies
  2. Introducing the proper mechanics of the skills and movement patterns needed to perform skills correctly
  3. Making camp fun so that the girls will come away with loving the game of volleyball and experiencing success. 

This camp is meant for players who are just starting volleyball who have not played any club level volleyball or any organized team volleyball.

SESSION B

*Co-ed session

Grades 5-10 Skills Camp: Monday - Thursday July 9-12, 9:00am–2:00pm

Cost: $239.00 ($120 deposit required with registration)

Session B will focus on training volleyball players to elevate their level of play in all areas of the game (serving, receiving, setting, passing, hitting, and blocking).  Focus will be on teaching offensive and defensive systems while training players in agility, flexibility, vertical jumping and transitioning.

Lunch is not provided. Campers must bring their own lunch.

SESSION C

*Co-ed session

Grades 6-12 Elite Position Camp: Monday - Thursday, July 9-12, 9:00am–2:00pm

Cost: $239.00 ($120 deposit required with registration)

Session C will focus mainly on specific positions with the addition of spending time on serving and ball control drills as well as leaving some time to play. Focus will be on footwork, refining techniques, giving repetitions for each skill but also focusing on learning the strategies of each position. A written evaluation will also be given to each player.

Lunch is not provided. Campers must bring their own lunch.

SESSION D

*Co-ed session

Grades 7-12: Serving Small Group Lessons: Monday - Wednesday, July 9-11, 2:15 - 3:15pm
(Choose 1: Serving, Setting, Middle Hitting, OH/RS Hitting, Defensive Specialist)

Cost: $79.00 ($50 deposit due with registration)

Session D will focus on technique, use of technology to help improve skills, and furthering the knowledge and tactical side of each skill. The Calvin coaching staff will be instructing these small group lessons. There will be a limit of 6 players per group.

SESSION E

*Co-ed session

Grades 8-12: Setting/Hitting Small Group Lessons: Monday - Wednesday, July 9-11, 3:30-4:30pm

Cost: $79.00 ($50 deposit due with registration)

Session E will focus on technique, use of technology to help improve skills, and furthering the knowledge and tactical side of each skill. The Calvin coaching staff will be instructing these small group lessons. There will be a limit of 6 players per group.

SESSION F

Girls Grades 10-12 Elite High School ID Overnight Camp: July 12-14, Thursday, 6:00pm thru Saturday, 11:30am.
Limited to 30 participants

Cost: $329.00 ($150 deposit required with registration)

Session F (ID Elite Camp) is meant to be a high level teaching and training camp for high school girls planning to play volleyball at the collegiate level. The camp looks to introduce players to the technical and tactical training used by the Calvin College women’s volleyball program.  With sessions run by the Calvin College coaching staff, campers will get the truest taste of what it is like to play for the Knights and learn more about the goals and philosophy of Calvin College Volleyball. 

Includes staying in the dorms Thursday & Friday night and meals all day Friday and breakfast Saturday. Please contact Coach Warners directly if you need transportation to and from the airport. There is an option of having a tour and meeting with the admission department on Thursday afternoon before camp starts.

SESSION G

Grades 5-12 Skills Camp: Monday-Thursday, July 16-19, 9:00am – 2:00pm

Cost: $239.00 ($120 deposit required with registration)

NEW** Grades 5-8 Skills Camp: Saturday, August 18, 9:00am - 2:00pm

Cost: $79.00 ($40 deposit required with registration) Lunch will be provided

Session I will be a skills camp for middle school players to help prepare them for school tryouts. Focus will be on instruction are repetitions in serving, passing, hitting and setting. There will also be time spent on building confidence, the right mentality and intangible things players can do to enhance their chances of making their school team.

Camp Registration & Payments

ONLINE registration will be available Monday, April 2, 2018, at 9:00am EDT.  At this site, you may only pay electronically and the full payment is due with registration.

MAIL IN registration will begin on Monday, April 2, 2018.  Any registrations postmarked prior to Friday, March 30, 2018, will go the end of the week’s registrations and will not be processed until Monday, April 9. 

If you wish to register by mail-in registration, payments may only be made by check.  No credit cards are accepted.

Registration for the camps that start on a Monday closes at 3:00pm on the Friday PRIOR to the start of the camp. For Overnight camps beginning on a Monday, registration closes at 3:00pm on the Thursday prior to the start of the camp. For those camps not beginning on a Monday, registration closes at 3:00pm, 2 days prior to the start.

PLEASE MAKE ALL CHECKS PAYABLE TO CALVIN COLLEGE (SPECIFIC CAMP)

ALL BALANCES ARE DUE ON THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP.

Walk-in registrations will not be accepted until Monday, April 9, 2018.  Payments may be made by check or cash (exact change) ONLY.  Credit cards are not accepted in person.

First day of camp drop in registrations are subject to availability and at the discretion of the coach.  Drop-ins MAY be charged a late fee (these will be listed in the brochure) but ALL will be charged the online registration fee. Payments may be made by check or cash (exact change) ONLY.  Credit cards are not accepted in person.

Deposits/refund policy

There will be NO REFUNDS/TRANSFERS once your session of camp has begun.

There will be NO FULL refunds after Friday, June 15, 2018, regardless of date of registration.

Registration convenience fees from online registrations are non-refundable.

If you transfer your child’s camp after registering, regardless of whether it is before or after Friday, June 15, 2018, you will be charged the online fee for registration as this is considered a separate registration by the registration service.

DEPOSITS, as indicated in the brochure, WILL NOT be refunded, transferred to another camp/section/time slot or transferred to another child after Friday, June 15, 2018, regardless of date of registration.
