Track & field event camps for boys and girls ages 5 through grade 12.

Session information

SESSION A

Development Camp I (Ages 5-11 - Levels 1 & 2): Monday-Friday, June 19- 23,  9:00 - 10:00am

Cost: $50.00 ($25 deposit due with registration)

Development camps seek to teach kids fundamental movements skills.  These skills are the gateway to participation in all sports and recreational activities.  These camps also introduce kids to core track and field events, all through playing games and having fun!

Level 1 - 5-8 years old: The primary focus of level 1 is to develop the fundamental movement skills associated with track and field, mainly running, jumping and throwing.  These skills will be developed primarily through the playing of games. Kids will also be introduced to sprinting, long jump and shot put.

Level 2 - 9-11 years old:  Level 2 will reinforce fundamental movement skills of running, jumping, & throwing.  This group will start introducing sport-specific Track and Field skills and become more familiar with Track and Field events. 

                                                           

SESSION B

High School High Jump (co-ed, entering grades 9-12): Monday-Friday, June 19-23, 10:30am- 12:00pm

Cost: $100.00 ($50 deposit due with registration)

Event specific camps are designed for athletes who want to begin to specialize or continue to specialize in certain track and field events.  A large focus will be placed on event mechanics and developing event specific capacities. 

Session B High School High Jump: High School aged athletes will build on their experiences with High Jump and develop event specific mechanics needed for successful injury-free High Jumping.  Emphasis is placed on approach and take-off mechanics.

SESSION C

High School Long Jump and Triple Jump (co-ed, entering grades 9-12): Monday-Friday, June 19-23, 1:00 - 2:30pm

Cost: $100.00 ($50 deposit due with registration)

Event specific camps are designed for athletes who want to begin to specialize or continue to specialize in certain track and field events.  A large focus will be placed on event mechanics and developing event specific capacities. 

Session C High School Long Jump and Triple Jump: High School aged athletes will build on their experiences with Long Jump and develop event specific mechanics needed for successful injury free Long Jumping.  Athletes will also be introduced to the basics of Triple Jump.

SESSION D

High School Pole Vault (co-ed, entering grades 9-12): Monday-Friday, June 19-23, 3:00 - 4:30pm

Cost: $100.00 ($50 deposit due with registration)

Event specific camps are designed for athletes who want to begin to specialize or continue to specialize in certain track and field events.  A large focus will be placed on event mechanics and developing event specific capacities. 

Session D: High School Pole Vault: High School aged athletes will build on their experiences with Pole Vault and develop event specific mechanics needed for successful, injury-free Pole Vaulting.  Emphasis will be placed on runway and take-off mechanics.

SESSION E

Event specific camps are designed for athletes who want to begin to specialize or continue to specialize in certain track and field events.  A large focus will be placed on event mechanics and developing event specific capacities. 

Session F: Middle School Shot Put & Discus: Athletes are introduced to the fundamentals of the throwing events.  Emphasis will be placed on Shot put and Discus.

High School Shot Put & Discus (co-ed, entering grades 9-12): Monday-Friday, July 17-21, 1:00 - 2:30pm

Cost: $100.00 ($50 deposit due with registration)

Event specific camps are designed for athletes who want to begin to specialize or continue to specialize in certain track and field events.  A large focus will be placed on event mechanics and developing event specific capacities. 

Session G: High School Shot Put and Discus: High School aged athletes will build on their experiences with throwing and develop event specific mechanics needed for successful Shot Put and Discus throwing. 

SESSION H

Introduction to Hammer Throw and Javelin (co-ed, entering grades 6-12): Monday-Friday, July 17-21, 3:00 - 4:30pm

Cost: $100.00 ($50 deposit due with registration)

Event specific camps are designed for athletes who want to begin to specialize or continue to specialize in certain track and field events.  A large focus will be placed on event mechanics and developing event specific capacities. 

Session H: Introduction to Hammer Throw and Javelin: Athletes will be introduced to the events of Hammer Throw and Javelin. These events are not offered in high school.  Learning these throwing events is a great way to distinguish yourself to potential college coaches. 

SESSION I

Event specific camps are designed for athletes who want to begin to specialize or continue to specialize in certain track and field events.  A large focus will be placed on event mechanics and developing event specific capacities. 

Session J:  High School Sprints and Hurdles: Athletes will learn the event specific mechanics needed for successful injury free Sprinting.  Also a great option for non-track athletes wanting to develop speed.

SESSION K

Middle Schools Jumps (co-ed, entering grades 7-8): Monday-Friday, August 7-11, 1:00 - 2:30pm

Cost: $100.00 ($50 deposit due with registration)

Event specific camps are designed for athletes who want to begin to specialize or continue to specialize in certain track and field events.  A large focus will be placed on event mechanics and developing event specific capacities. 

Session K:  Middle Schools Jumps: Athletes are introduced to the fundamentals of the Jumping events.  Emphasis will be placed on Long Jump and High Jump.

SESSION L

Middle Schools Sprints & Hurdles (co-ed, entering grades 7-8): Monday-Friday, August 7-11, 3:00 - 4:30pm

Cost: $100.00 ($50 deposit due with registration)

Event specific camps are designed for athletes who want to begin to specialize or continue to specialize in certain track and field events.  A large focus will be placed on event mechanics and developing event specific capacities. 

Session L:  Middle School Sprints and Hurdles: Athletes are introduced to the fundamentals of Sprinting and Hurdles.  Emphasis will be placed on proper sprinting and hurdle mechanics.  Also a great option for non-track athletes wanting to develop speed.

Registration details

Camp Registration & Payments

Mail-in registration will begin on Monday, April 3, 2017.  Any registrations postmarked prior to Friday, March 31, 2017, will go the end of the week’s registrations and will not be processed until Monday, April 10. 

If you wish to register by mail-in registration, payments may only be made by check.  No credit cards are accepted.

Please make all checks payable to Calvin College (specific camp)

Please make a separate check for EACH camp
(ex.: Calvin College Swimming, Calvin College Soccer, etc.)

All balances are due on the first day of camp.

Online registration will be available beginning Monday, April 3, 2017, at 9:00am EDT.  At this site, you may only pay electronically and the full payment is due with registration. 

Walk-in registrations will not be accepted until Monday, April 10, 2017.  Payments may be made by check or cash (exact change) ONLY.  Credit cards are not accepted in person.

Deposits/refund policy

There will be NO REFUNDS once your session of camp has begun.

There will be NO FULL refunds after Friday, June 9, 2017.

Registration convenience fees from online registrations are non-refundable.

If you transfer your child’s camp after registering, regardless of whether it is before or after Friday, June 9, 2017, you will be charged the online fee for registration as this is considered a separate registration by the registration service.

DEPOSITS, as indicated in the brochure, WILL NOT be refunded, transferred to another camp/section/time slot or transferred to another child after Friday, June 9, 2017, regardless of date of registration.
