GFDI Faculty Development Workshop, led by David Smith
June 1-4, 2020
Application due: March 2, 2020

How can we experience the challenge of relating faith to learning in our teaching and scholarship as generative rather than restrictive, a source of possibilities rather than anxieties? Sometimes debates about the “integration of faith and learning” sound like a quest for the one right strategy to rule them all. Yet both faith and learning are complex, and recent writing on the topic has ranged across perspectives, practices, imagination, formation, virtues, vocation, and more. This workshop will explore some of the variety in current lines of thinking with the aim of participants finding fruitful and creative ways forward for their own course design and scholarly projects. The workshop will focus on how faith can be involved in teaching as much as on how it can inform research.

This workshop is open to Calvin University and Calvin Seminary faculty only. Participants will receive a stipend for attending. Places are limited. Email mlr34@calvin.edu for more details or apply via Google form (see below: note, you must be signed in using your Calvin Google ID in order to see the form). Sponsored by the Global Faculty Development Institute.
