Neil Carlson
Neil has directed CSR's contract research operation since 2004. He majored in Political Science and Biblical Studies at Wheaton College with a focus on international development, then earned a doctorate in Political Science from Duke University. A social network nut and computer wonk since childhood, Neil delights in solving problems and boosting performance by linking team culture to technology and automation. His research areas include civil society, nonprofit organizations, religion and politics, and science and technology policy. He enjoys sci-fi books and movies and family travel with his wife and two sons.

Laura Luchies
Associate Director
Laura, CSR's Associate Director, earned her Bachelor's degree from Calvin College and her Master's and PhD in Social Psychology from Northwestern University. Laura's academic research focuses on close relationships, especially conflict and forgiveness. After spending three years as a psychology professor, Laura joined CSR in 2014. Laura leads many of CSR's projects, especially projects that involve quantitative statistical analyses. Laura enjoys jumping on the trampoline, playing board games, and taking trips with her husband and two daughters.

Allison Rudi
Assistant Director
CSR's Assistant Director earned her Masters from Northwestern University in Public Policy and Administration and her Bachelors from Vanderbilt University. Allison brings a wealth of knowledge, excitement and passion for social justice to CSR in PR/communications, community engagement, qualitative research, project management, and business development. One of her favorite roles at CSR is providing career coaching, mentoring, and professional development training for our student research assistants and recent graduate staff. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Petrit, and their rambunctious 4 year old son, Ari, traveling, learning about other cultures, lake days, karaoke and cheese.

Kathy Bardolph
Office Manager
Kathy graduated from Calvin College in the late 1970’s with a double major in English and German. She joined CSR full time in 2008, first as an Administrative Assistant, then as Office Manager in summer 2018. Besides bookkeeping, administrative work, and proofing/editing at CSR, Kathy works independently as a proofreader. Vacations and extra time include following husband Pete’s bands, reading, fair-weather gardening, keeping in touch with her grown-up daughter and son, and travel.

Adriene Pendery
Research Associate
Adriene graduated in May 2018 with a B.S in Psychology. She first joined CSR's team as a research assistant in June 2016, and now serves as the Research Associate, supervising research assistants and providing project support. Adriene's passion for baking shows up at CSR from time to time.

Abraham Mena
Research Specialist
Abe is a Research Specialist who graduated in May 2018 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Abraham was born and raised in El Salvador and plans to return to his home after obtaining his Master's degree. Outside of work, he invests his time playing soccer and volleyball, cooking, reading Latin American literature, and investing in friendships.

Nicole Karl
Research Specialist
Nicole is a Research Specialist who graduated in May 2017 with a B.S. in Psychology and Business. She has been a part of the team since February 2015, when she joined as an intern before becoming a research assistant. Outside of work, Nicole loves reading, beaches, and exploring Grand Rapids.

Joanna Bascom
Research Specialist
Joanna is a Research Specialist who graduated in May 2017 with honors in Economics. She is interested in the intersection of community problem-solving and data analysis and mapping. Other interests include drinking tea and finding the best lemonade, playing tennis, and exploring new places and old favourites.

Soul Lee
Research Assistant
Soul is a junior, both in mind, class, and spirit, with majors in Elementary Education and Social Studies to become even more so. History, he believes, is the key to the present and therefore the future. In the wild, Soul can usually be found glued to a computer or an interesting book.

Ina Kivijarvi
Research Assistant
Ina is a junior studying Economics, Business, and French at Calvin. She is very interested in learning about different cultures and hopes that her studies will allow her to work internationally at some point. Though currently in Grand Rapids, she is from California where she likes to spend the majority of her time outdoors. In her spare time, Ina enjoys hiking, singing, leisurely bike rides, and staying caffeinated.

Research Assistant
Myungha is a junior at Calvin College studying International Relations and Data Science. She calls Seoul, South Korea her home and has her passion in adventuring around the world, refugee and immigration issues, and data visualization. Besides, she enjoys watching films except horror (she loves anything about film) and crime TV shows.

Research Assistant
Minseok Kim is a senior studying psychology at Calvin College. Living as a Korean in India and now in Grand Rapids, Minseok loves learning about new cultures and especially their food. When he is off his duties as a student, president of a student org or research assistant, Minseok enjoys listening to music, singing, and watching cooking videos.

Research Assistant
Taylor is a senior studying sociology, psychology, and writing. Between finishing up her degree, heading up Calvin's arts and writing journal as the editor-in-chief, and working as a research assistant, she doesn’t have time for much else, but when she does, she likes to spend it drinking black coffee, cooking dinner with her partner, and petting her dog, Teddy.

Nathanael is a senior at Calvin studying Economics and Chinese, two interests united by his desire to understand human behavior in society. When not studying or serving in dorm leadership, Nathanael distracts himself with a very active curiosity and an ambition for creative projects, tackling everything from leather sandals to wooden box drums.
